Scandia is a rural community located in northern Washington County, at the edge of  the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. Known as New Scandia Township until its incorporation on January 1, 2007 as the City of Scandia, the community has a rich history as the first Swedish immigrants to Minnesota settled here. The city has a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with lakes, woodlands, farms and low density rural development. The St. Croix River and Big Marine Lake are two of the natural gems that attract residents and visitors to the area.

Scandia Resources:

Community Action Partnership of Ramsey & Washington Counties – The Community Action Partnership of Ramsey & Washington Counties was established in 1964 as a program of the War on Poverty. Their mission is to reduce the causes of poverty and its impacts on people’s lives.

Cock-A-Doodle Zoo – The Cock-A-Doodle Zoo is a licensed and insured traveling petting zoo. Their displays are designed to protect the public and animals while at the same time getting all our guests up close to animals as if they met them in the natural world. Guests can hug a Kangaroo, pet a African Porcupine or even hand feed a grape to a Ringtail Lemur.

Gammelgården Museum – The Gammelgården Museum is the only open air museum devoted to preserving, presenting and promoting Swedish immigrant heritage in the United States. In buildings that have been carefully preserved and restored, visitors can get a glimpse of the daily lives & artifacts of these immigrants and participate in events and classes.
