Located in Anoka County, Anoka is city in northern Twin Cities of Minnesota. With a population of more than 17,142, the suburban city is known as the “Halloween Capital of the World,” because it hosted one of the first Halloween parades in 1920. It still celebrates the holiday each year with several parades. In its early history, Anoka was formerly settled by immigrants in 1844. The city was later on incorporated in 1878, with its named deriving from two Indian words that referred to its location on the banks of the Rum River.

Anoka County Historical Society – Anoka County Historical Society is dedicated to gathering, preserving and disseminating the Anoka County history for the enjoyment and education of young and old, residents and travelers alike. Founded in 1934, the society has been honored with national and state awards for programming, serving tens of thousands of history enthusiasts.

Anoka Riverfest & Craft Fair – The Anoka Riverfest & Craft Fair is an annual celebration in historic downtown Anoka organized by the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce. The event was named Anoka Riverfest in recognition of the fact that Anoka is the place where the Rum and Mississippi rivers intersect. As a volunteer-run event, more than 15,000 people come out each July in this one-day celebration.
