Hugo is a commuter town located in the northside of downtown Saint Paul in Washington County, Minnesota. With a population of 13,332, Hugo is considered the sixteenth largest metropolitan area in the county. Hugo was originally settled by French Canadian and established itself early on as a refueling station for the Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad. The community was initially named Centerville Station before it was called Hugo.
