New Year, New Look For Your Home

Who knew that the past year could be such a whirlwind?  I think we are all glad to be closing out 2020 and looking forward to the new year ahead.  Even though there is no telling how things will shake out in 2021, many can agree that a fresh, clean slate in many areas of your life will encourage a positive outcome for the new year.

Most of the time, new year resolutions entail losing weight, eating better, saving money, or making more time for important things in life.  Having spent a lot more time at home over the past year, you may have noticed that you are not making the best use of your spaces, or maybe you have declared that an update is in order!  Why not set a goal to organize your home spaces and do some restyling?

Consider the following when restyling your home for 2021

Clear out the clutter

If you find yourself contending with things that seem to just be taking up space, ask yourself how likely you are to use them. Is it worth the space that they occupy?  Do you have décor items that are dated that you really do not enjoy anymore?

Let those things go!!

New Year, New Home. Closet organization

Get organized

Getting organized is the first step to feeling ready to take on the new year. Consistently keeping everything in its rightful place is the second half of the battle. Using various shelving systems, fun baskets, and furniture with storage in different rooms of your home can help keep things in order and add style to functionality.

Fresh paint on the walls

Painting is easy, affordable, and can offer the ultimate refresh in any room.  Even if you are not opting for a new and different color, repairing small imperfections and covering up scuff marks can satisfy your craving for a fresh, clean slate. If you’re looking to bring in a different color, some of the trendy paint colors emerging in 2021 are earthy rust tones, aqua, teal, apricot, and rich and bold gray-browns. There are so many colors to choose from to enhance your personal style and create the look that you want. Don’t always think of on-trend colors.  Use paint color to express yourself!

Update the furniture

In addition to painting the walls, new furniture can add a fresh new face to any room. Well placed furniture in the correct style and scale will allow you to make the most of your space.  You may be interested in downsizing the size of your existing furniture to achieve a more minimalist look, or perhaps your family is growing, and you need to invest in a sectional sofa big enough to seat everyone during movie nights and family get-togethers.

New year, new home. Updated furntiure.

Accessorizing: Icing on the cake

Consider this step as you declutter and reorganize — if you removed accent pieces from your walls or surfaces, do they need to be replaced? New accessories can make your home feel complete again after cleaning things up.  They are like jewelry to the perfect outfit, or icing on your cake!
