New Year’s Interior Design Refresh

This is the time of year when people start thinking about the changes they want to happen within the next year, get rid of the old, and bring in the new. New beginnings, new traditions, new aspirations, and new home styles are on our minds.

Think about your home. Is it what you would like it to be, or is it feeling outdated and no longer bringing you joy? This is a perfect time to start going through your year-round décor items, light fixtures, paint colors, flooring options, etc. What do you like in your home and what would you like to freshen up to match the energy of the new year?

New Year Trends

2023 will be another year of comfortable home trends which blend our previous few years of organic colors with warmer tones and patterns. Whether you are doing a total home refresh, or just your décor and wall hangings, here are some ideas to spark creativity and get you excited for a new look.

Light Fixtures

Find a bold light fixture to create a beautiful focal piece for your room. There are many organic-feeling light options, whether it comes to shape, material or texture. This beautiful chandelier makes a bold statement yet has a warm element due to its circular shape and cutouts. Find a product that will take the elements of your room and elevate the overall design with its uniqueness.

Everyday Décor

A simple way to add new décor to your home and step up your interior design refresh is with a setup that could be transitioned between multiple spaces. This is easily achievable with a tray – the next step is, deciding what to place on the tray. This question is answered by what room it is currently occupying. Here are some examples:

  • Kitchen – Place a few glasses, a pitcher (with a drink of choice), and a small snack option. This works well when having guests because it feels more inviting to use.
  • Bedroom – Place either a book or some magazines, two to three small decorative items that play with texture and height, and include some source of greenery (whether that be faux or live). You may choose to fill with hotel-style accommodations if used in a guest room, or more personal items like perfume and your daily reading in your owner’s suite Showcase the tray on the bed or a dresser.
  • Bathroom – Place extra toiletries, candles, bath products, and small towels if placed on the back of the toilet or on a small shelf. You may choose to use more decorative items, but trays in bathrooms are more of a provided accommodations holder.
  • Living Room – Place books, magazines, boxes, vases, sculptures, and greenery on the tray. Use the décor to add extra elements to your room’s overall design, including but not limited to color, texture, shape, movement, and Biophilic design. It is a great opportunity to add the final touches that really make your home feel “designer”.

Finalizing Your “Oasis”

As a collective, we have learned that it is important to have your “relax” space. Whether this is your bathroom, your bedroom, or just a small nook with a chair and the perfect view, it matters. Make sure that you at least give yourself this space. Finalize an area by adding a small side table for drinks or reading material. Add in a plant that makes you smile, and use colors or patterns that will help you relax.

Start out this new year with new goals, new projects, and new self-realizations that promote a healthy living environment for when we need it most.
