Select your palette
After you’ve chosen which key elements you want to incorporate into your room, deciding your color palette is the next step. The hues you select will determine which type of accent colors and patterns you should decorate with and how to layer them harmoniously. Here are some common color palette choices:
Tone on tone – two or more hues with a minimal difference; for example cream and eggshell. If you use this technique while decorating, it creates a beautiful ombre effect.
Complimentary colors are also a good way to decorate your home; for example, using different shades of blue and orange.
Analogous colors are adjacent on the color wheel; when they are used in the design, it creates an esthetically pleasing and calming effect.
