How To Work With Your Interior Designer During COVID 19

Online/Virtual Interior Design

It’s business as usual for interior designers. Well… kind of. We’ve been self-isolating for months now and many people are eager to keep their project rolling during the coronavirus pandemic. It’s hard to not notice your physical realm more and to no one’s surprise, DIY projects and home renovation sales are on the rise.

Your cabinets, closets, and garage shelves have probably never been more organized ever, than right now.

How Room Reimagined Design Works Remotely

Even if you’re not in a comfortable place of beginning your home project, you can still take the first steps. There is a lot of pre-work that needs to be done before we enter your home. For example, your very first consultation can be done virtually via Zoom or Facetime. During this consultation, we can discuss your home’s challenges, your vision for a new space, and take some measurements.

So this is how to work with your interior designer during COVID 19

  • Our Virtual Process is already in place.
  • We are mailing samples directly to you whether it’s wallpaper, tile, wood, or window treatments.
  • Online presentations can be done with various online presentation tools.
  • Prepping as much as possible prior to the start of any project saves money and time, plus it is fun!
  • Redesigning your spaces using what you already have! This can make being at home more fun and accommodate your new lifestyle – all done virtually.
  • Lastly, redesigning the spaces and things you have to accommodate several more months in a semi-quarantine lifestyle sot that your home is more accommodating to your family.

Love The Home You Have

Sometimes its really hard to simply love what you have. This is true in every category – automobiles, houses, clothing, shoes, jewelry and more. There is also so much external noise, telling us we can have more, get more, do better, etc. But is that really the case or just marketing talking persuading us?

People should love the home they are in; consider ways to achieve sanctuary.

Add music

So how can you change up your space to find new ways to love it? We are spending so much time at home that we should definitely love being there. There are small things you may not have thought of  (and may sound silly) like adding music to your home. This is another element to help shape the feel and style of “your home”.

Are you an Amazon prime customer? Has the uber-helpful AI Alexa entered your space yet? Consider this… add an Alexa Echo Dot to or Echo Studio device (for better sound) to every room in the house. You can create groups by floor or area of the home. Just say “Alexa, play smooth jazz on the everywhere group” and every room of your home will fill up with calming music. You can also schedule every room to wake up to classical piano music.

Echo devices can also be used as an intercom system between rooms to talk to your family, or you can use it as a telephone system to call other Prime users over the internet.

Bring the outside, in

Bringing the outside in is also another good way to change things up, especially seasonally. You could add small citrus trees indoors now that the weather is warming up. Plants add life and color to your space, and who wouldn’t love picking citric fruit in their living room? If lemons aren’t your thing, then consider a wall-hanging herb garden or ficus trees in open corners.

More advice

Look at each room in your home and think about how you really want to use it. Donate anything that isn’t working for you or has not been touched in a year or more. Clean out the clutter. Get organized and only buy things that truly make you happy or feel inspired. This is a great time to tackle home improvement projects inside and out. Be productive and go with what you love.
