Falling Into Design

Falling into design

Spring and fall are the two most popular seasons for design change. Your body can feel the physical change of the world around you, which means you’re more likely to change things up in your life. Our focus is on the interior of your home.

If you’re starting a project or thinking that you may want a change, the first thing you should do is determine what style you currently have and what style you’re going for. These may vary, depending on your life’s conditions. Say, for example, you’re moving and want a new house full of furniture. Will you continue the same traditional style but with updated items, or will you change to a contemporary style?

Here is a look into a few different styles that are very popular this year, and their main characteristics to help you through your design journey.

Modern

Modern design is a pretty straightforward style, with crisp, clean lines, metal accents like gold or chrome, lots of black and white with pops of color, and of course, abstract artwork. There will always be style variations that change per your preference, but the core style will stay the same.

Natural

This is a broader category that includes Biophilic design, Old World Design, Bohemian, etc. It can be bold or soft, but the natural elements will always be recognizable. This is a comforting and grounding design style that can be easily implemented into any other style as an accent.

Glam

This style often goes hand in hand with modern and contemporary design. It is about the clean, bright, shiny, wow moment. It also tends to be a more feminine design style. In the Glam style, there is the use of fur, metallic accents, crystals, and a simple color scheme such as a lot of whites, pinks, and creams, or blacks, blues, and greens.

With glam, you can go light or dark, soft or bold, the main design feature will always be the gold and fur.
